Line up

The Strokes (US)

January 29th 2001. A day that changed history. In the same moment that The Stories released ”The Modern Age” rock became a bit cooler, a bit cockier and a lot better. And when they followed it with their debut album ”Is This It”, they set a completely new standard. A standard that generation of indie rock bands have tried to measure up to.

When The Strokes in 2020 released their first new album in seven year they proved that they were ready to take everything even further. With ”The Adults Are Talking” a completely new generation got the chance to discover one of the best indie rock bands ever.

The Avalanches (AUS)

”Since I left you I found the world so new…” – the sampled vocals from the title track of The Avalanches’ debut album spoke the truth. The album really did open doors to a wold so new.

With tasteful cut’n’paste aesthetics the masterful Australians have kept on creating dreamlike electronic collages, where each detail is so perfectly chosen that every tune touches upon being a masterpiece.

Linn Koch-Emmery (SE)

After some critically acclaimed and truly great tracks and EP:s it became far to quiet from Linn Koch-Emmery. What we didn’t knew back then was that she was planning for something majestic.

When Linn – five years after releasing her first single – finally let her debut album ”Being the Girl” loose it was one of the best Swedish records of the year. Period.

Clairo (US)

Claire Elizabeth Cottrill – aka Clairo – is the Best New Act in the World and her sluggish ”Bags” is one of the best songs in the wold. At least if you ask the NME Awards jury. But why trust them when you can make up your own mind?

With the albums ”Immunity” and ”Sling” + highlights such as ”Sofia”, ”Flaming Hot Cheetos” and ”Amoeba” have Atlante based Clairo moved from covers, homemade bedroom pop and Bandcamp to the Billboard chart and major league festivals.

Japanese Breakfast (US)

Two time GRAMMY nominated (Best New Artist + Best Alternative Music Album), album of the year according to DN, and one of the best tracks of the year on Pitchfork – 2021 was a great year for Japanese Breakfast.

The exuberant, dreamy pop that poured from her third album ”Jubilee” didn’t only received great reviews, it also gave her countless of new fans. Japanese Breakfast is a true musical miracle.
